2018 Sustainability Summit
Learning Together: Fostering a Culture of Sustainability
True sustainability comes from groups of individuals sharing common expectations, norms and habits that benefit our environment and community every day – a culture of sustainability. It happens where each of us lives, works, and learns.
Join us for the 2018 Louisville Sustainability Summit where we expect that over 250 members of our community will connect to discover successes, identify opportunities, and creatively learn from each other about real steps to create this culture at your place of work, worship, and learning. This is Louisville’s annual opportunity for everyone interested in sustainability to gather under one roof.
Our Keynote speaker will be David W. Orr, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics (Emeritus) at Oberlin College, and founder of the journal Solutions, who will be addressing how the creation of a culture of sustainability leads to a revitalized local economy, elimination of carbon emissions, and restoration of local agriculture. The vehicle for this lesson is the Oberlin Project. Dr. Orr has authored eight books and is well known for his pioneering work on environmental literacy and ecological design.
University of Louisville will host the event in the newly renovated and expanded Student Activities Center and provide the unique opportunity to learn from their journey to establish a culture of sustainability.
